Storm Damage Fence Repair
Fast help when summer thunderstorms, fallen limbs or tropical remnants take down your fence.

After a storm, first make sure downed power lines are reported and kept clear. Then photograph the damage before anything is moved, secure pools and pets with a temporary closure, and have the tree removed by a tree service before the fence is rebuilt. We document damage for insurance and rebuild once the tree is gone.
Charlotte storm patterns
Charlotte doesn’t get many direct hurricanes, but it gets plenty of wind. Summer thunderstorms can bring sudden downbursts, and tropical systems sometimes reach the Piedmont. Hurricane Hugo in 1989 is still the benchmark: gusts over 100 mph, thousands of trees down and most of the city without power. Under a big canopy like ours, a fence is often what a falling limb hits first.
What to do after a storm
- Stay clear of downed lines and report them to Duke Energy.
- Photograph everything before moving debris: the tree, the fence, wide shots and close-ups.
- Secure the yard. Pool barriers and dog yards come first. We can install temporary panels or construction fencing.
- Call your insurer and get a claim number if you plan to file.
- Have the tree removed by a qualified tree service.
- Rebuild. We provide a written estimate you can share with your adjuster.
Rebuilding stronger
- Heavier or more closely spaced posts on exposed lines
- Semi-privacy gaps to reduce wind load
- Aluminum or black chain link along wooded lines where limbs fall often
- Keeping dead limbs over the fence trimmed

Questions Charlotte homeowners ask
Will homeowners insurance pay for my fence?
It depends on your policy and whose tree fell. See our guide on fallen trees and insurance in North Carolina, and call your agent.
Can you remove the tree too?
Tree removal is a job for a tree service, especially with large limbs or anything near power lines. We coordinate around their schedule.
