Fence Staining & Sealing
Cleaning, brightening and staining that protects wood fences from Charlotte's sun, humidity and pollen.

Charlotte wood fences last longest with a penetrating, semi-transparent or semi-solid oil-based or hybrid stain applied after new wood has dried, then reapplied every two to four years depending on sun and shade. Clean off mildew and pollen first. Fall is often the best time to stain here: lower humidity, milder temperatures and less pollen.
Our process
- Inspect for loose boards, popped nails and rot, and fix them first.
- Clean mildew, pollen and gray fibers with a wood cleaner or brightener and a careful low-pressure rinse.
- Dry for at least a day or two of good weather.
- Protect plants, siding, stonework and driveways.
- Apply stain by spray and back-brush so it soaks in evenly.
Timing in Charlotte
- Spring: wait until the heaviest pollen is over, usually after April.
- Summer: possible, but avoid midday sun and pop-up storms.
- Fall: often ideal, with dry air and moderate temperatures.
- Winter: too cold on many days for most stains to cure.
Shade vs. sun
Fences in full sun fade faster, especially on south and west faces. Fences under oaks fade slower but grow mildew. We adjust products and cleaning to each side of the yard.

Questions Charlotte homeowners ask
How soon can I stain a new pine fence?
New pressure-treated pine is wet from treatment. It usually needs weeks to a few months to dry, depending on weather. A water-drop test tells you when it’s ready.
What color lasts longest?
Pigmented stains last longer than clear sealers. Semi-transparent and semi-solid colors block more UV.
Can you stain only my side?
Yes. Staining the neighbor’s side requires their permission and access.
