Myers Park Fences
Elegant black iron, aluminum and privacy fencing under the willow oak canopy of Myers Park.

Myers Park's large lots, formal homes and willow oak canopy call for fences that look permanent and refined: black ornamental steel or aluminum in front and around pools, and capped board-on-board or painted privacy fences in back. Protect street tree roots, keep corner sight triangles clear and check any deed restrictions before you build.
The neighborhood
Planned in the early 1900s with landscape architect John Nolen, Myers Park is known for curving roads, big lots and long tunnels of willow oaks along Queens Road and its side streets. Many of those trees are around a century old.
What matters here
- Trees first. Street trees in the right-of-way are city-owned and protected. Private trees still deserve root-friendly post placement. See Fence posts and tree roots.
- Formal design. Brick piers, limestone caps and steel panels suit Georgian and Tudor homes.
- Pools. Many back yards have pools that need code-compliant barriers. See Pool fences.
- Driveway gates. Swing gates set back from the street with room for a car to wait.
Popular choices
- Ornamental steel or aluminum fronts
- Board-on-board with cap and trim
- Painted wood privacy matched to the house
- Driveway gates
Questions Charlotte homeowners ask
Is Myers Park a local historic district?
Myers Park is not one of Charlotte’s eight local historic districts, so Historic District Commission review isn’t required, but UDO rules, CDOT certificates, tree protections and any private restrictions still apply.
Will fence posts hurt my willow oaks?
They can if posts cut large roots. We hand-dig near big trees, shift posts to avoid major roots and keep the line away from trunks.
